A devastatingly smart post, Charlie. I like this a lot!

But MySpace is a bit naff these days, don't you think?

I'd appreciate your thoughts on a discussion regarding the next MySpace for musicians at my blog: http://niteshok.wordpress.com/2009/02/09/the-next-myspace-for-musicians/

Thanks again!

It's hard for me to understand why more people don't get this. Creating Marketing models in Marketing Engineering class is tough, understanding that it's about cultivating relationships with people isn't.

IF more musicians (on Myspace) generally gave a damn about what their fans thought instead of just posted a song now and then and randomly added everyone and their mom, I suspect they'd have more success, but HEY, that's just my $.02

Thanks guys.

It's all about taking care of other people. Once you step outside yourself and focus on giving people what they want, marketing gets a lot easier.

If you understand the underlying principles of how something works (in this case, internet marketing and marketing in general), it really frees you up to improvise and think of cool ideas like this.

Good stuff, keep it up dude.

I was tempted to write "this is genius"... but instead it think it's just showing that you care. It would work well- it's not often consumers/fans are suprised and touched with individuality.

You could even get the name/info of some willing concert goers at the door, turning the usually boring line-up-to-get-your-ticket-ripped hassle into a random contest to get some giveaways and come on stage for a hello... bingo style.
