If you want to know a little bit more about me, this page should give you a good idea as to what my tastes and preferences are.
- Favorite bands: John Butler Trio, any band with Jack White, Led Zeppelin, The Shins (I first saw them live in 2001 — waaay before they tragically became a staple of hipsterdom), Brett Dennen, Jeff Buckley.
- Favorite books: I have quite a few favorites (see my shelf here), but I’d have to say “The Alchemist” by Coelho.
- Favorite website: Springwise. This is the most consistently interesting site I’ve found (if you’re into entrepreneurship and cool ideas). I also really enjoy Tim Ferriss’ blog, TheDieLine, PostSecret, and TextsFromLastNight.
- Favorite movies: The Fugitive, The Big Lebowski, Shawshank Redemption, There Will Be Blood, Requiem for a Dream, GoodFellas, The Dark Knight, Indiana Jones (not including the atrocity that came out in 2008), The Truman Show, Comedian, Windy City Heat, Dumb and Dumber, Airplane!, Office Space.
- Best movie ever made: City of God.
- Worst movie ever made: Ocean’s 12. I’ve technically seen far worse (e.g. Cool as Ice, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians), but this was the only movie I’ve seen where I felt like the director was actively trying to insult my intelligence. M. Night Shyamalan also does this to me, but I stopped watching his stuff after Signs.
- Favorite TV shows: The Sopranos will always be my favorite. I also enjoy Eastbound and Down, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (except for the first season), BBC’s The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development, Extras, The Simpsons, Seinfeld, The Soup, Cheaters: Amazing Confrontations, and Summer Heights High.
- Least favorite TV show: Entourage. Hands-down the most overrated show on TV. It’s self-congratulatory Hollywood garbage that’s painfully unfunny. Not to mention the fact that the guys that make up this “entourage” are complete tools. This show is incredibly bad and I am continually shocked when close friends of mine tell me they like it.
- Favorite comedians: I’m obsessed with standup comedy. I have 70 standup albums, and I think I’d seen more than 20 headliners by the time I was 18 (including Seinfeld, Chappelle, and Mitch Hedberg). My favorites are Patton Oswalt, Bill Hicks, Ricky Gervais, David Cross, Michael Ian Black, Louis CK, and Zach Galifianakis.
- Least favorite comedian: Carlos Mencia or Dane Cook.
- Favorite Youtube channel: Daxflame’s is first, The Onion’s is second. However… I’ve recently discovered CHI-CITY MAYNE and he may very well be the funniest person on Youtube (evidence here).
Springwise.com looks good. I just checked it out. I am also a fan of the Tim Ferriss blog, he’s got some good stuff on there. Great choices.

I must admit, I was hoping to see Kat Williams on that favorite comedian list, or Nick Swardson perhaps.
City of God is brilliant (which is why you’ll like Slumdog Millionaire), but I have to give the nod to Shawshank Redemption.
And c’mon, where’s LOST ?
Looking forward to connecting this week!

If you’re interested in Zeppelin and Jack White, give the Black Keys a listen. Good bluesy rock music, with obvious Zeppelin influence.

Good to see your a fan of Summer Heights High. Hilarious series. Chris Lilley has just begun making a new series that I think is called ‘Angry Boys’. Hopefully just as funny!

I completely agree with you on your least favorite TV show (and on your favorite movies). I would never want to hang out with any of those douches comprising Entourage, let alone watch a full episode.
