How This 27-Year Old Woman Ended Her Panic Attacks
In the past few years, over 13,000 people have taken my free 10-Day Anxiety Fix email course.
I get emails every week from readers who used the course to improve their mental health. But one email recently stood out.
A woman named “Mary” sent me this message:
It’s been a month! I have never been so happy like this! I want to thank God for letting me stumble on your page/Youtube. You are such a miracle. Thank you so much for giving me my life back! I hope you can help some more people out there struggling with anxiety/panic disorder. Keep it up!I asked her to share more of her story, and what worked for her. Here were her responses:
What is your background?
I am a single-mother, 27yrs old, graphic designer.
How long have you struggled with anxiety?
I suffered from anxiety attack/panic disorder for 4 years! This started when my ex-husband and I had problems with our relationship, and we ended up separating. So, I had to raise my son alone (of course with the financial support of my parents, as I didn’t have work yet).
What symptoms did you have?
I was so depressed, that I didn’t know what to do. I steered myself away from friends, I didn’t go out of the house anymore. Because whenever I went out, I got anxiety attacks — my hands started to get tingling sensations, I couldn’t breathe properly, until my body got numb, then I felt faint. It was horrible. For 4 years, I just stayed at home, trying to find some work online to support my son. And whenever there was a need to go out, like I had to attend activities at my son’s school, I would have to go with my mother because I got so scared when I was alone. It was so frustrating because I was a very confident person before everything happened!
How did you find help?
I searched online to see if there was something that could help me in this situation. And I found your 10 day-tutorial. This was such a blessing for those who prefer to not go to a professional. (Charlie’s note: You can sign up for The 10-Day Anxiety Fix for free here).First, I tried to cut off my coffee intake slowly. Then I got to a week without coffee. I started to go out, but still with my mother. Whenever we were at the shopping mall, I asked her to leave me in the playhouse with my son to see if I didn’t get anxiety attacks when I was alone. And it worked! I was so happy at that time. I wasn’t scared anymore. I kept telling myself “everything is fine, there’s nothing to be scared of.”Days went by, and I forced myself to drop my son off at school alone. And that’s when I realized I felt fine. I could go to the city alone!
Did your anxiety come back?
My anxiety attacks never came back! I was so happy that I came across the 10-day tutorial and followed the steps. At first it was really hard to stay away from coffee. But, I replaced it with hot cocoa 😂
